Some Background
The shuttle service began in February 2008 with 2 return journeys a day and 38 passengers in the first month. This quickly built up with a coordinator employed, and a move into Colling and Gray’s premises in the October, along with a second shuttle funded by the Horowhenua Community Trust. Policy and procedures were introduced along with volunteer training, double crewing and safety equipment carried on board. In September 2010 the trust moved into its own premises at the Horowhenua Health Centre and the present timetable introduced. Passenger numbers have increased progressively from 3750 to 10000 varying slightly year to year.
